There are no dumb questions.

One of the biggest disconnections between industries is unfamiliar terminology. In order to make our clients feel more confident and comfortable with us, we took to social media to create a series explaining some of the most popular ones! The goal was not only to educate, but to position ourselves as experts in our field who were also approachable.

Here’s an example post!

We know it can be intimidating to bring your ideas and dreams into a space you’re unfamiliar with. That’s why we’ve started our series “No Dumb Questions”. Whether it’s design terminology or basic business questions you’ve always been embarrassed to ask, we’re here to explain - no judgement! We’ll keep things as simple as we can.

So, you’ve maybe heard the term “spot color” but never known what it meant. You can sort of think of it like a can of paint. The big difference between spot color and paint, though, is that you can’t mix them together. For example, a logo can have red and yellow spot colors, but orange would have to be a third spot color, not a mix of the red and yellow.

Spot colors are typically used in situations where you’re trying to keep costs down, or when you really need an exact color match, like with stationery. Spot colors can also act as your brand - just think of McDonald’s yellow or FedEx’s brown!
